Back to School

February was back to school. I shared another wonderful class with Claire and it was back to business. February also brought about a most unlikely sporting success with Nicholas Ante Bandur establishing himself as the new senior boys’ champion of the world (I mean school)! In a field that had the very best swimmers in his age, Nic started off strongly and held off a determined pack to take out the accolades. He proved this was no fluke by gaining selection in the regional team which went on to the Archdiocesan trials. Here, his training paid dividends with an overall sixth place and an eight second improvement in his time from the school carnival. I only hope he got the same thrill as his father did! Later in the year Nic proved his athletic ability wasn’t confined to the world of swimming when he won the junior division of a pie eating competition (and received $50 for his efforts!)
