January 2007 Summer Visitors

January began with glorious summer weather days at the beach and the ubiquitous summer annoyance. No – not flies – visitors! We had our far share from across the country and across the world. Rather than lead them on to believe that life in Batemans Bay was all about lolling around on the beach all day before coming home for sumptuous barbequed feasts, mango daiquiris and delicious summer fruits (which it usually is) – we decided to make it tough on them and send them to South Durras and throw them to the mercy of the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately the waves were gentle, inviting and welcoming rather that treacherous and so our visitors from Coffs Harbour, Alice Springs and Germany loved their experience and ended up staying even longer. Although, as the pictures do show, they did find surfing in the ocean more challenging than on the sand.
